*Take Action for Libraries*

Please contact Senator Patty Murray and ask her and the Senate HELP Committee to amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) to include the SKILLS Act, S312.

Tell them:

• Students clearly show that effective school library programs help students do better academically, even when other school variables are considered.
• According to the National  Center for Education Statistics, approximately 8,830 public schools in the US do not have a school library, and in schools that do have a library, 17,000 schools do not have a full or part-time state-certified school librarian on staff.
• Without the assistance provided by ESEA, students run the risk of never developing comprehensive literacy including digital literacy, knowledge and skills required for good education and work force readiness.
